Have you ever heard about so-called Search Engine Optimization? How do you think, what is the secret of a good website SEO? The answer is so simple that any person who promotes a website can easily use it!...

Ready to know why the secret is simple? Easy! All they are trying to sell you under the SEO abbreviature does not exist in reality. Literally! It's just a loud marketing word! We could finish this article right away, but let me steal a couple of more minutes of yours — I'll explain everything in detail.

Don't get me wrong here, you still have to fine-read through your website texts. No one will argue against it — we do it ourselves at Digital Cucumber, but we do it once, and we never call it SEO. Consequently, you can't find such an offer in the list of our services: SEO is meaningless and, to be honest, very fishy!

We've been doing marketing research in Vancouver, Lower Mainland and British Colombia for a while. Personally, I've got a general idea about what's happening on the market, and I must say — it's a dirty mess. We have no lead players, totally. Prices vary from hundreds to thousands and then to tens of thousands of dollars here. And absolutely no respect for competitors, which is the most frustrating thing of all! I can't blame anyone, but it's a terrible practice for the industry. You will be offered to re-build and re-create anything you can ask about, even if it works correctly. Business requirements dictate: sell, sell, sell! The web design industry looks cursed...

But, since we are talking about SEO here, let's try to experiment with it, as it is a part of a business.

Imagine that you went to Company One and purchased an SEO package over there. After these guys are done, try to repeat the same, but go to Company Two instead, asking for the same service using the texts you've been provided by Company One. What will you get in return? You'll get a full estimate once again, even if you brought an optimized text. You will get more or less the same price in a quote as it was in Company One with, maybe, a different assortment of action points. Definitely, you'll be pushed to optimize your content even more. And you know what? You can repeat such an experiment with any company or freelancer — results will be the same! Everyone will be willing to optimize already optimized texts of yours. As I said: No respect, at all!

Want to know why? While there are some rules with online text optimization, but no exact pattern on how to do it. You will be loaded up with terms such as semantic core, keywords, with so many different and very professional sounded things. Yet, in reality, all these "offers" will vary depending on the person. Every time at the same price, remember? It's because no one knows what to do with all these texts for sure — just some transparent guidelines — that's all.

Wanna free advice in terms of SEO? Personally, I can suggest to you only this: Love and know what you are doing, know everything about your business. Write about it and explain to the people things you are involved with. Be passionate, be honest, be straight. Don't forget to post updates about what you are doing today, how things are, and SEO will come naturally. Talk to the people, not search bots. And never ever leave your website dead in the water — no SEO can help you with this — it's a worst-case scenario, but it happens almost all the time, almost in 99% of cases.

Keep things interactive! Do your job on updating a website at least once a week, talk with your customers, and things will happen! Like magic! That is everything you ever really need. Cheers!
